GLOSSARIO 2001 - AEROPORTUALI

VS1 = Stalling speed / A stalling speed or minimun steady flight speed.

 VS1 g = StalLing speed at the 1 g breakpoint.

 VSDM = Var?able slope delta modulation.

 VSO = Stalling speed.

 VT = Air Tahiti.

 VTDM = Minimum demonstrated threshold speed.

 VTmax = Maximum threshold speed.

 VTmin = Minimum threshold speed.

 Vulnerable cargo = Goods br which no value is declared, but which obviously require security handling; or shipments which are particularly vulnerable tu theft or pilferage.

 VV = True airspeed / The speed of the aeroplane relative tu undistributed air.

  W = Watt.

 WAFC = World area forecast centre.

WAFS = World area forecast system.

 Warsaw Convention = The Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules Relating to lnternational Carriage by Ai~ signed in Warsaw, 12 October 1929; as amended by the Hague Protocol, 28th September 1955; as amended by Additional Protocol No. 1 of Montreal 1975; as amended at the Hague 1955 and by AdditionaL Protocol No. 2 of Montreal 1975; as amended at the Hague 1955 and by Protocol No. 4 of Montreal 1975, whicever may be applicable to carriage.

 Warsaw Convention = An lnternational multilateral treaty which regulates, in a uniform manne~ the conditions of international transportation by air. Amoung other thinghs, it establishes the monetary limits for bss, damage, and delay.

 Watt (W) = The power which gives rise tu the production of energy at the rate of 1 joule per second.

 Way-point = A specifled geographical location used to define an area navigation route or the flight path of an aircraft empboying area navigation.

Wh = Weber.

 WD = Wardair Canada Inc.

 WEAA = Western European Airports Association.

 Wearout = The process of deterioration which results in an increase of the failure rate with increasing age.

 Weber (Wh) = The magnetic flux which, linking a circuit of one turn, produces in it an electromative forco of 1 volt as it is reduced tu zero at a uniform rate in 1 second. 

WECPNL = Weighted equivalent continuous perceived noise Level.

 Weight and Balance Manual (WBM) = A manuaL containing all weight and balance data needed by the airlines for analysing and establishing weight and balance procedures.

Note: ATA Specification No. 100 describes the recommended content of the manual.

 Weight break = Levels at which the air freight rate per 100 punds decreases because od substantiab increases in the weight of the shipment. Examples of bevels at which weight breaks occur (in pounds) are 100, 500, 1,000, 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000.

 Weight Charge = The charge for carriage of goods based un their weight.

 Weight Chargeahle Means the weight upon which charges are assessed.

 Weight Gross = Means the weight of a shipment including the weight of the packaging and container.

 Weight Load Factor = Payboad achieved as against avaiLable, expressed as a percentage. Cargo is frequently limited by volume rather than weight; hence weight load factor of 100% are rarelu achieved.

 Weight Net = Means weight of the shipment except the weight 01 the packaging and container.

 Weight, Over Pivot = The weight in excess of the Pivot Weight. Weight Pivot = Minimun chargeable ULD weight.

 Weight Tare = Means the weight of the packaging and/or container. For detinition of tare weight in connection with unit load devices consult carriers tariff.

Weight Volume = Refers to the Iow density cargo for which the transportation charges are based on cubic dimensions of the shipment rather than upon actua[ gross weight. In such cases the charges are established on the basis that each 6,000 cubic centimetres (366 cubic inches) equa! one kilogram or 166 cubic inches equal one pound.

 Wet cargo = A shipment which contains Iiquids or which by its nature may produce liquids or give off large amounts of moisture.

 Wet Lease An arrangementfor renting an aircraft underwich the owner provides crews, ground support equipment, fuel and so on (ot dry lease).

 Wiring Manual (WM) = A manual containing all aircraft electricai and electronic wiring diagrams necessary for maintenance. The manual also includes Iists of equipment (e!ectrical, wires, and hook-up.

 WIST = Study Group on Low Leve! Wind Shear and Turbulence.

 World area lorecast centre (WAFC) = A meteorological centre designated to prepare and supply upper-airforecasts in digital form on a global basis to regional area forecast centres.

 World area forecast system (WAFS) = A world-wide system by which world and regional area forecast centres provide aeronautica! meteorological en-route forecasts in uniform standardized formats.

 WR = Friendly islands Airways Limited.

 Write-ups Inspection (during maintenance inspection) = The documents prepared as a result of descrepancies noted during maintenance inspection.

 WT = Nigeria Airways Limited / Weight.

 WW = Scottish European Airways.

 WWW = World Weather Watch.

 WZ = Berlin European U.K. Limited.

 x = Unit Load Device (as an additional me entry with one of the above) (Rate Class Code).

XX = Cancel any previous spece allocation or special service request/ Unassigned (Charges Codes).

 VC = F[ight West Airlines Limited.

 Vo = SaIAirAB.

 Yield = Revenue, not necessari!y profitable, per unit of traffic / The air transport revenue derived per unit of traffic carried in air transportation.

Examp/es: revenue per freight ton mile and revenue per passenger mile flown.

 YP = Aero Lloyd Flugreisen GmbH. und Luftverkehrs-KG. VT = Your Ielegram (Cable, Wire, ect.).

 YY = Action identifier used of airline code indicating action by all addressees and/or action required for all segments. When used in conjunction with FRAV i.e. YYFRAV, it means via any Member.

  Z marker beacon = A type of radio beacon, the emissions of which radiate in a vertical cone shaped pattern.

 ZA = ZAS Airline of Egypt.

 ZC = Royal Swazi National Airways Corporation Ltd.

 Zip Code = A numerical code, established by the U.S. Posta! Service, used for the purpose of routing and to identify delivery zones. Some airlines apply this code forfreight in the same manner.

 ZL = Affretair (PVT) Ltd.

 ZLAMP = Major world air route area.

 ZLARN = Regional and domestic air route area.

 Zone = Any one ot a number of sections or districts of the United States used for the purpose of establishing proper rates for parcels, mai!, and pickup and delivery.

 ZQ = Ansett New Zealand.

 ZRMP = Major world air route area.

 ZRRN = Regional and domestic air route area.
